Naturally Raised and Harvested

I have been operating a closed flock of Light Sussex dual purpose birds (for meat and eggs) for 5 years now. I let the hens do the incubating and brooding; they tell me when they are done mothering their chicks. I offer all organic feed, and plenty of pasture to both the layers and any youngsters that have been selected for meat.

I needed to leave the property that my flock was on and so I re-homed 30 pullets, 35 layers, processed 100 males for the freezer, and any older birds remaining were harvested and canned. I will start this beautiful Light Sussex flock again in a heartbeat when I am able:)
